A Lazy Chat

A quick report on my trip to Sydney:

1. the radio spot wasn't so much an interview as, in the words of the producer, a lazy chat.
2. the talkback section got bumped because of other news that had/has our nation gripped (two miners trapped underground for 6 days were miraculously found alive, although their extraction will take days and be dangerous task--please pray for them.)
3. the presenter's agenda for talking to me: a famer/ag science graduate writing romance seemed bizarre (his word.) My word: hmm.
4. otherwise it went well, if quickly, allowing me unexpected time for retail therapy at a city bookstore.
5. the scholarship dinner and awards = priceless.
6. I arrived home last night to discover the built-in closets had been installed.

And now I have a book-in-progress to concentrate all my energy on.

I came over from Susan Grant's blog to explain "shiny" and "gorram."

Both hail from the best SF TV show ever, by the genius Joss Whedon (he who also created Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Firefly. Firefly was mistreated terribly by Fox when it was on the air in 2002, and made into a movie last year called Serenity. They are kind of a western in space, but also incorporate paranormal stuff, romance, and even horror.

"Shiny!" is the equivalent of cool, or okay, or excellent. "Everything's shiny, cap'n!"

"Gorram" is the main curse, pretty much like "goddamn."

Rent the DVDs! Most of the episodes are thought-provoking, touching, and very, very funny.

I don't suppose that radio interview will be posted anywhere online? Another author I know was interviewed by her local CBS television affiliate and the interview will be archived on the station's website.

Sounds like a well worthwhile trip.I'm glad the interview was easier than you thought.
The show Firefly was great and I was glad they made a movie to add and get closure to the series since FOX cancelled yet again another great show. I hope they make more movies,who knows they might or the best would be if the Sci-Fi channel would pick up where they left off.

Thanks Bron,but there is a far better chance pigs will fly first,lol. It always happens with a good show,they don't give it a chance or they cancel it w/out at least finishing the episodes they have left.
