At The Beach

No, I'm not at the beach today. I'm sitting here in my office chair avoiding the heat and dust and flies that represent summer where I live, and doing a thousand-and-one accumulated business tasks. Then I have a synopsis to write. IOW, I'm procrastinating.

Anyway. I realised that although I blogged about heading off on the beach holiday, and I blogged about some of the non-beach activities, I didn't actually mention the beach. So here it is. The beach. From where I reclined in a rented lounger under a rented beach umbrella (I don't do baking in the sun anymore), watching the world dawdle by. I did swim. Despite the bluebottles and the announcements from the Surf Lifesavers that we shouldn't worry. The suckers sting, but once you've ridden the pain you'll be okay. Nice to know, although I'm not a fan of pain.

I took a book, natch, but spent more time people watching. Seeing what *they* were reading. Watching more athletic people than I running and playing beach volleyball and surfing. In the picture you can see a group of school kids heading into the water with their boards. We figured it had to be school sports afternoon. How lucky are they, surfing?

Beach looks alluring. Would love to be there. I love the warmth, the sunshine and the sand under my feet. Summer, and the bright blue skies and heat are so soothing and wonderful.

Great picture of the beach. My brother just went back to Australia this past weekend. He is in Sydney right now being a tourist but then he has to head back to Perth soon to the University to complete his studies and get his Master's. He has sent me pictures by email and it is beautiful. I would love to visit someday when my little ones are much older.

Bronwyn,

If I had the good fortune to live "down under" instead of snowy Ohio, you'd see me camped out on that beach with your book in my hands - reading inbetween checking out those gorgeous male bods doing the sand volleyball! Just finished Back in Fortune's Bed and loved it! The love scene in The Ruthless Groom, however, is still one of my favorites and one of the best in romance out there today!

Summer to me means the beach and that means sitting outside all day relaxing and reading while dipping my toes in and walking along the shore. I miss ths ocean and the surf and long for it until summer is here.

This is Manly beach, BTW, a suburb on the north side of Sydney Harbour. And it is a beautiful beach (apart from the bluebottle visitors) and a beautiful holiday spot, in case any of you beach babes ever visit down-under.

Nina, thank you so much for your lovely message. I'm so glad you enjoyed Back In Fortune's Bed and I shall hug your comment about Ruthless Groom very close. When it is hard to get the words down as I want, when the scene just isn't coming together, it is wonderful to know that I DID get it right before -- I can do it again! Thank you!!

We get spells down here in Florida where Portugese "Man of War" come in in droves and sting OUCH!! are these the same as your bluebottles?
The beach looks beautiful, we're finally getting some sunshine and warm temps here!! It was downright chilly in the 30's for several mornings!! I might go to the beach and read this afternoon!!

I love beaches with wide open spaces and depth. In Maine, and New Jersey in the summer the beaches are pure heaven. Wish I could be at the beach every summer. Miss it.
