Three In One

After five years as a Harlequin author I still get quite a kick out of each and every foreign translation I receive. In today's mail I received 3 new Scandinavian editions, including my first 3-in-1's. I love firsts, don't you? And I also love this cover treatment, with the curtain and the kiss, although the heroine looks more like Emily from A Tempting Engagement than Jillian from Just A Taste. Anyway, one of 3-in-1s has glittery gold hearts sprinkled on the cover and they catch the light as you move the book. Pretty.

The one with the glittery stars is Finnish, the other pair appear to be Swedish. I'm smiling at the titles. Mine is Sex, Logner...Och Vin. Not sure about the Logner, but I think I understand the Sex and Vin part without any translation. :-) The second book is Sheri Whitefeather's Cherokeee Stranger, although in Swedish he is apparently a Ratt Man. Can someone tell me what that really translates as? I am intrigued.

The covers look great, Bron. Out of curiosity, do you get any kind of advance warning as to when/if your books are going into translation into other countries, and just how many counties have your books gone into now?

Beautiful covers Bron! As for the Swedish translations...I should maybe send my Swedish friend Nina your way. ;)

Very nice covers indeed.

The Swedish titles translate:

Bronwyn: Sex, Lies... and Wine

Sheri: Right Evening, Right Man

Sophie: Secretive Woman

Very good books all of them. The translations usually leaves a lot to ask for, but in this case they were pretty good.

HUGS!!

Nina you have read the Swedish translations??? How cool! Another first to be excited about!! And thank you so much for translating the titles. They're all nice, aren't they?

Heather, thank you for sending Nina my way and also for the lovely card I received today. Hugs.

Yvonne, there is no advance notice of translations. The ones which send copies are a lovely surprise; the others we discover via the royalty statements. As for number of countries: 25 separate markets which could be closer to 30 countries as, for example, New Zealand isn't listed and the Latin American market includes several countries. All that fun and excitement still to come for you -- enjoy!!!

I'm sorry if this comes through twice. Just delete one of them. Comp at work is... funny...

Not a problem translating Bron! It's always fun to help out a friend of a friend. And of course I've read your work. I mean, I've got to read the books of the authors I actually heard of right? Unfortunately the translations of the romance novels in Sweden is mostly of rather poor quality. Possibly because the romance industry is low priority and maybe because the English langauge have like four times as many words as Swedish. I prefer to read in original language when possible.

Ah and yes, the titles are very nice and appropriate.

HUGS!!

Nina
