"One joy scatters a hundred griefs." CHINESE PROVERB

Of course, if one is a glass-half-empty type person, then one might look at this from the flip side: one grief shatters a hundred joys. But today I'm feeling glass-half-full. How about you?

Hmmm, I was feeling glass half full until I embarked on a day of housecleaning (long overdue)and:

1. I managed to flood one of my palms while watering it (necessitating panicked carpet drying/funiture moving/lifting said heavy Kentia palm out onto the deck);
2. While dusting our large pine coffee table in the family room caught something in the duster and scratched the table (its first scratch :sob:); and
3. Had the joys of a neighbour we never used to see (because he had nice tall pittosporums along his fence line until a few months ago when they were chopped down) ask me if we could please move our deck spotlight because it was shining in their family room. Excuse me? Try shutting your curtains then, or even... not destroying about twenty mature trees on two boundaries.

Yup, I think I'm a glass half empty person today.

This goes to prove that:

(a) housecleaning creates stress and should be avoided at all costs.

(b) staying in one's office where neighbours can't find you is also beneficial to stress levels.

Hope today goes better for you, Yvonne.

Add cooking to the avoid list. As I was making supper I had turned the wrong element on. I now have three white element covers with purple violets and 1 almost black one with purple violets.

Bron, I came to that same conclusion myself, LOL! And people wonder why I prefer to stay in my office all day? Ha! Well, for one, I don't make a mess in the rest of the house to even require cleaning anyway, and yeah, on the neighbour dodging too.

Christa, oh dear. That sounds like a nasty near disaster. Can you get a replacement element cover or are they only sold in sets of four?

Yvonne- I don't know if I can only get one but I have a kettle that you need to heat up on the stove. So I place the cover under it and you can barely notice it is black. Not only is it covered but it's also at the back of the stove.

It's been a glass half empty kind of month. First rude upstairs neighbors flooded my apartment due to stupidity (seriously--it was a preventable incident) and I had a few boxes of books stored in the walk-in closet that got wet. Thankfully there was minimal damage, but still... As a result of moving half the contents out of the closet, and then back into the closet 2 weeks later once it was dry, I've been experiencing serious neck pain so bad at times I could cry.

The catch 22 there is that I know I need more rest to help it heal, but it's been so bad some nights (ie: last night) that sleep is slow in coming and far from restful. Which makes it hurt all the more. :(

And, in keeping with Christa's reasons for avoiding the kitchen, while attempting to wipe down the stove the other night I dropped a heavy iron burner on my foot.
