Well, Blow Me Down...

After the final performances and the judges comments I was sure the result would go the other way. I am so not a good judge of popular opinion but YAY, DAVID COOK!!! (And, um, Simon's apology for disrespect? AFTER the voting closed?? THEN he says he doesn't care which David won??? Very long hmmmmmmmmmmm.)

So, what do you think of the new American Idol and did you enjoy the finale? What did you love (and no much) about the show?

yup that was a shocker. Even though I wanted Cook to win, I thought it would go to Archie. And for sumebody that wasn't even going there to audition to end up winning. Like what was up with Simon apologizing. Did he know the result already and didn't want to look foolish for cutting down the winner the night before?
The finale was good lot of past big names, kind of dragged out but then usually result shows are. Would it be mean to say wish dread dude left earlier.

Hey Christa. Must admit I felt the same with Simon backtracking. I suspect his ego wouldn't look good with egg all over it! :-) Unusually for me, I enjoyed the show. Favourite bits: the Apologize duet, Gladys Knight's new pips, Michael Johns. *g* Least favourite: the inadequacies of the 4th placegetter exposed. The Seal/Syesha duet (just don't like the song at all.) And the winner's tears.

I was rooting for David Cook, but I wasn't expecting him to win. I thought David A. performed better in the last round. I liked George Michael's performance and David Cook's collaboration with ZZ Top.

When it got down to the end I wanted David Cook to win. For some reason I never thought much of David A. I am really glad Cook won.

Hmm... I think they showed American Idol here, too, but I suppose Eurovision Song Contest got more attention. Russia won that one, by the way.

Minna, I SAW that! What says Russia more than the combination of popstar, violinist and figure skater?!?! It was awesome.

It was something, but some of those other performances... Good grief! And last year, when the competition was in Finland, this weird group managed to make Russians mad by singing "lasha tumbai", which sounded like "Russia goodbye":
