I Blame It On Idol

How long has reality TV been around? A decade? Probably, something like that. In the early years I resisted the allure of Big Brother and Survivor and The Amazing Race and The Bachelor. I didn't want to be sucked in by shows that would consume too much time and which had no storyline and which created a false sense of celebrity. Notice my mention of "sucked in"? Yeah, I know myself well enough to recognise that I could be a victim and so it has come to pass. All resistence was futile. After a couple of seasons of Idol, Australian and then American, I am now marking my calendar for each week's episode of Next Top Model, Top Chef and Project Runway. The first two I can take or leave, really, but I LOVE Project Runway. Have even started watching Tim Gunn's Guide To Style. Not as good as Trinny and Susannah, in fact it's borderline irritating and I don't know why I keep watching.

How about you -- are you a reality show addict? Which do you watch each season, regardless?

I don't watch reality tv at all--and haven't even turned my tv on in something like three months or so...

(I seem to be the last of my species, the crabby hermits)

Glad to hear from you, Bron!

I go through stages where it's all about the books or all about the teve. Don't have time for both.

My daughter loves Top Model, but there are days I just can't take Tyra. I started watching Project Runway while on the treadmill at the gym and I like it - although the only one I make sure I watch is Idol.

I guess I do have a crush on Simon ;) even with his idiosyncracies!

I'm a reality show junkie. I watch The Amazing Race to Survivor and everything in between. It is true, these shows just suck you in and don't let you go!

I don't watch reality shows at all. But because I have always loved mystery stories I am hooked on the CIS series (except Miami, and Bones.

I can't really say I'm a reality show junkie. I watched Idol this season because it gave me and a friend a chance to IM about something we were both watching same with Deal or No Deal. When Rock Star was on I watched that(cmon why doesn't another band need to find a singer). Not much of a TV watcher. Oh and I did watch Dancing with the stars some nights(cause it was on after Idol and I was too lazy to change channels) and Hell's Kitchen

I watch too much Reality TV,I can't wait for Amazing Race. I just started watching Top Chef in the middle of last season and liked it so I haven't missed this season.I watched Top Model the second season and when Tyra didn't pick Yaya clearly the model with more potential I haven't watched it again.I've watched every season of American Idol and no season has made me madder than this season. First they vote off Michael, clearly stupid voters then Carly! If David Cook would have lost I think that I would quit watching.

I heard David Cook on the radio singing "Time of Your Life" the winning song on Idol that he sang after he won.
