Happy Thanksgiving, Turduckens

If you're celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow/today then my guess is you are not reading blogs but cooking. Lots. Or perhaps travelling to be with family to enjoy their cooking, lots. (Although saw on news that travel is down 10% this year.) But I'm sending Happy Thanksgiving wishes regardless along with the question, did anyone include a turducken in their Thanksgiving feast?

For non-American readers: this is a turkey stuffed with a duck stuffed with a chicken. I kid you not. Oh, and I gather all the birds are also stuffed. Heard about it from a comedian and wasn't sure if this was a joke but googled and, yes, is real. This picture looks rather tasty, some of the others, not so much.

Only one question remains...WHY???

I think it all started with trying to beat the Jones's and then got out of control, Bronwyn. To me it just seems like three times as many chances to catch salmonella.

In Australia we could have a croc stuffed with a cow stuffed with a roo stuffed with a lamb stuffed with lemon murtle and juniper berry breadcrumbs. What I want to know is, would it still taste like chicken? :)

The first time I saw this was Monday night when I was watching My Worst Enemy(the new show with Christian Slater). I don't think that will ever grace our Thanksgiving table

Love your Aussie version, Kirsty, LOL, and your final question.

Christa, was wondering if this was a common or regional or new thing. Will wait for our American friends to digest their thanksgiving dinner and see if they can shed some light.

I believe it is common since I hear about it on a lot of TV shows. But i definitely wouldn't eat it because I agree with Kristy C about salmonella and besides I DON'T LIKE DUCK!!!!

Ellen, I wonder if it *is* common or one of those things that gets a lot of TV attention because it's a turducken. I mean, I'm only writing about it because it's a turducken and because I heard about it on a TV show.

Hope you enjoyed a lovely salmonella-free Thanksgiving.

I have heard of them before, but I've steered clear off them so far

Thank you for the good wishes, I hope you've had a GREAT weekend yourself.
